Portlock
Hawai‘i Kai gateway, ocean access
Indicative price tier — $4M – $15M
In one line
A quiet point neighborhood at the edge of the city.
Portlock occupies the seaward tip of Hawai‘i Kai, the planned community at O‘ahu's southeast corner. The peninsula juts into Maunalua Bay with deep-water frontage on one side and Koko Head rising directly behind it. Henry Kaiser developed the original lots in the 1950s; many of the 1960s and 1970s homes have been replaced by modern oceanfront builds.
What defines it
A closer look
01
Frontage types
Portlock's homes split between true oceanfront on the rocky bluff (with private stairs to swim coves) and marina-front parcels with boat docks on the Hawai‘i Kai canal system.
02
Recreation
The Hawai‘i Kai Boat Harbor, Hanauma Bay, and the Koko Crater Railway Trail are all within minutes. China Walls — one of the island's iconic cliff-jumping and bodyboarding spots — sits at the neighborhood's southern edge.
03
Town access
Portlock is twenty minutes from Waikīkī when traffic cooperates and offers full-service amenities at Hawai‘i Kai Towne Center: Costco, Safeway, Whole Foods, a Roy's outpost, and the Hawai‘i Kai Marina dining row.
